Maybe it’s because we’ve been stuck inside for what seems an entire year – but nature is having a major moment in design. From the mountains to the prairies, to the oceans white with foam… we are surrounded with the most incredible landscapes. From the California redwoods to the Japanese cherry blossoms, inspiration is endless.
Because we love a good theme, we’ve created three nature-inspired categories you can use to help bring some life into your kitchen. So, grab a pen, paper, (maybe a passport) and let’s explore!
SCHEME 1: EARTH
Starting from the ground up. Let’s head out west to the evergreens of Colorado, the tan mountain ranges of Montana, and the desertscapes of Arizona. You truly can’t go wrong with this cozy palette of greens and neutrals. Listen, there’s a very good reason ‘Evergreen Fog’ is Sherwin Williams’ Color of the Year for 2022.
SCHEME 2: SEA
Slip on those flip flops and let’s head to Florida’s bright emerald coast. If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, grab the scuba gear and dive into the deepest green waters of Belize. Be it light and coastal sands, or moody shades beneath the surface, green cabinets bring life to any kitchen.
SCHEME 3: SKY
Clients often want to reach for white as the ‘go-to’ for crisp, airy, and open design. Good news though, by introducing soft blue hues, you can still achieve all those, while adding some colorful interest to your kitchen. You know the feeling you get when you look up and there’s “not a cloud in the sky?” Imagine, that feeling, but every day. Cloudy or clear skies, adding blue to your kitchen is a certain way to bring the outside, in.
Before you think painted cabinets are going away anytime soon, you can go ahead, brew that coffee, breathe in the fresh air, and take a sigh of relief, because the thing about nature – she never goes out of style.
All colors shown are from Sherwin Williams.
